For the 2020/2021 academic year, AIMS-Cameroon is home to 37 bright minds from 07 African countries, 16 of them being female.
Setting the sail to an incredible teaching and learning journey, the entire staff of the AIMS-Cameroon center warmly welcomed and introduced the new bunch to AIMS and its people, its programs and activities, not leaving out the AIMS vision, mission and core values, during an orientation gathering.
Addressing the gathering in an opening speech, the Chief operating Officer, Mr. Honore Bernard Youfegnuy, congratulated each one of them for haven secured a place at AIMS as he promised an all-round enriching experience.
“Your arrival here marks a new chapter in the story of your life, but this chapter is a little different from the preceding chapters. Now, you will have the opportunity to experience a unique and innovative pedagogic model in a 24/7 learning enabling environment” he said.
‘While you are here at AIMS, you will acquire new knowledge, develop new skills and enhance your personal attributes in profound ways that will equip you for life after AIMS’ he added.
Following the warm introduction and haven gone through the first block of the academic marathon, the students have expressed complete satisfaction stating that courses offered are far from regular university courses and experiences.
‘Thanks to AIMS, I have come to appreciate the beauty of using my Mathematical background to better understand the very simple laws of physics in my environment. Challenging, but yet, very fulfilling.” Abigail from Ghana divulged.
While some expect to have a brand new drive and be better Scientists at the end of the program, others are simply amazed at the opportunity to learn new languages and interact closely with world class lecturers.
Overall, the students are positive on achieving their end goals and becoming an asset to Africa as a whole.
