MESKEREM ABEBAW MEBRATIE

Ethiopie

Taught Masters, 2021/2022

While at AIMS, Meskerem conducted a study on a mathematical model of Salmonella infection within the community. His research incorporated the roles of animals and the environment in the transmission of the disease. Meskerem developed a new mathematical model that accounted for the dynamics of humans, animals, and bacteria in the environment. To determine which parameters impacted the transmission dynamics of Salmonella, he derived sensitivity indices and examined the effects of these parameters. Meskerem employed the least square method to estimate and determine the model parameter values, and he utilized programming languages such as Python and R to obtain numerical results of the model. These numerical results confirmed his analytical findings and allowed him to examine the impact of the model parameters on the transmission of Salmonella.

Meskerem is currently a PhD at the University of Kassel in Germany, where he is a member of the Multiscale Research Training Group (RTG). His research is focused on the mathematical modeling of multiscale timing in biological model organisms, and he is involved in the development of innovative experimental techniques.
