Research Conferences and Workshops

Overview

The AIMS-Cameroon Research Centre regularly hosts workshops and conferences in Mathematical Sciences and particularly in areas related to our research foci. The broad theme of the Research Centre is Fundamental Sciences and Mathematical Modelling in a multidisciplinary context, with a special emphasis on Climate Change, Data Analysis and Computation.

Past and Forthcoming Workshops

AIMS-Cameroon Research Centre has participated in the following Schools and Workshops:

  • All the members of the AIMS-Cameroon Research Centre attended the International Conference on Continuous Optimization (ICCOPT) on August 3-8 2019, at Hochschule Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Berlin, Germany.
  •
  • “Biennial of Mathematics: Non Linear Analysis Geometry and Application” (NLAGA), Dakar: The Ph.D. researcher, Landry Djomegne, gave a talk during the School “Biennial of Mathematics: Non Linear Analysis Geometry and Applications (NLAGA)” organized at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, Senegal on June 24-28, 2019. He equally gave a talk to the Colloquium of Mathematics and Computer Science (CMC) organized on April 8-12, 2019, by the University of Dschang, Cameroon.
  • Heidelberg Laureate Forum, Germany: The Ph.D. researcher Maryse Manuela Moutamal, attended the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, in Heidelberg, Germany on September 22-27, 2019. She also participated in the DAAD-ITOCA e-Resources training in Nigeria from October 19 to 23 October 2019.
Hosting a Workshop

The Research Centre of AIMS Cameroon hosts workshops and conferences in the mathematical sciences and particularly in areas related to our research foci. The Center focuses on nonlinear partial differential equations, artificial intelligence, climate sciences, control, optimization, anomalous (nonlocal) diffusion, with a broad range of applications, with a special emphasis on data analysis and computation.

Scheduling:

Workshops generally last 3 – 5 days and are scheduled in times when the academic programme is less busy or not running.

Facilities:

Our workshop venue is the main lecture hall. It can accommodate up to 100 participants and is equipped with whiteboards, blackboards and a projector. Smaller venues for smaller workshop or breakaway groups are also available at the Research Center. All meals are served in the canteen. The availability of accommodation in the building will vary throughout the year. But with the Covid-19 measures, suitable accommodation (Hotels) is also available off site at various establishments in the area . Office space is available for speakers and workshop organisers.

Funding:

AIMS-Cameroon can make a contribution to the cost of the workshop provided that funding is available, and that the workshop falls within one of its research focus areas. This contribution usually takes the form of venue, accommodation or meal costs.

Planning and administration:

Workshop organisers work together with AIMS Cameroon administration to plan, prepare for and coordinate the event.
