We live in a world where diseases are on the rise. For the majority of those diseases, specialists have been able to find effective drugs and treatments to help patients who suffer from them, but many other diseases such as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) still have no treatment and patients who suffer from it die every day in front of us and we can’t help them. While at AIMS, Nathalie in her research which focused on “joint modeling of lung function and ALS survival” was able to build a joint model based on the most common symptom of this disease, which is the destruction of lung function, to help to prolong the survival of the patients, which has been estimated at 5 years to date. Using data from a census in a pharmaceutical company, she was able to come up with a mathematical model that can help extend the lives of affected patients.

Currently employed as a data scientist in a company here in Cameroon, Nathalie as a problem solver, puts into practice the knowledge aquired from AIMS to help her company solve the problems that fall to them.
